School Program

Botelle School is organized as a traditional elementary school with grade level classrooms and typically one teacher assigned as a generalist to each class. Students will spend most of their school day with the same teacher and grade peers. As the curriculum grid indicates, students at Botelle spend a great deal of their time at school engaged in language arts and math instruction. Despite the time requirements of core acdemic areas, Botelle teachers work hard to create engaging activities that integrate disciplines around themes of study such as Butterflies in grades k, 1, and 2, Colonial America, grade 5 and The Maritime Studies Unit grade 6. Botelle students also enjoy regular instruction in art, library and technology, music(vocal, instrumental, and strings), physical education, and Spanish.

Students in grade three and older are tested annually using the Connecticut Mastery Test. Our school's performance on this measure and other information can be found by accesessing the strategic school profile at the state department of education http://www.state.ct.us/sde/ . The Curriculum Grid shows generally how instructional time at Botelle is divided. .
